In this episode Mark Seliger interviews Aaron Eckthart and Peter van Agtmael. They talked about the paths that led them to photography, the welcome you must earn as a photographer and capturing the intersection of fashion and the street. Eckhart trades stories of shooting in Puerto Rico during the Rum Diaries and the Dominican Republic with AmeriCares with Van Agtmael whose career has led him to China, South Africa, Egypt, Iraq, Afghanistan and the Golden Globes.
At the beginning we are introduced to Peter. He syas that his interests are in war and he has been photographing war for a few years. He likes it because it feels like a whole new world when you enter their ground.I have always had an interest in war photographers, therefore i really like some of Peter's stuff as i personally think it resembles the war to this day when you compare it to WW1/2 photography is was sometimes hard to make out but it is very clear in Peter's images.
Aaron is an actor. He often likes to take photographs on set, he even has a small gang whilst on set and was allowed to document their life whilst he was with them. I like some of the images that he has produced because i feel that they look unedited and the children all have different emotions which defines their feeling.
Overall, i really enjoyed looking at these two photographer as i did within the last episode. I found this epsiode not as interesting as the last epiode however it wasnt the worst one. I think that the photographers are similar in episode 7 and 8 because they are focused around photojournalism and normally it is just for a hobby but it turns out to be amazing pictures which gets them recognized. I would love to see an image with both Mary and Peter working together on it as i think it would turn out amazing.
